Last week, Heavy Hinges hunkered down at Audio Grotto in Newport and cranked out 8 new recordings! The rough mixes are back and sounding very cool! We need to track some more vocals and do a little bit of touching up, but it won’t be long before we move into mix-down stage and should be dropping our debut release this fall! The lovely and talented Matt Hueneman continue offering his expert engineering skills and sage advice as we move forward with the project. Keep your eyes and ears open for upcoming videos as well!

We are very excited to play this outdoor stage on the coolest patio in the city… It really feels like a little piece of Austin, TX right here in Northside. Great food and cocktails as well. So, have a couple tacos and some taquila, then get down to some Heavy Hinges. We will have some new material ready for you!

Last week’s show at Northside Tavern was a wild one! Thanks to everyone who came out and made it a great night and much thanks to Melany, Dwight, Ed and everyone else at NST.
Our next show will be a one time only event… Our bassist, Andrew Laudeman will be unable to make our next show, which is at Southgate House Revival on March 26, opening for touring acts Minor Birds and Kat Jones. Bass duties will be left in the capable hands of Mr. Joshua Holland. In fact, the Hinges rehearsed with him just last night and are on track for another great show! You won’t want to miss this unique Heavy Hinge experience!

Thanks to everyone who came out to pack the house at Mainstay this past weekend. We had a blast with you all! Special thanks to the amazing Fists of Love and the brilliant DJ Optik for helping bring the roof down. The debut of our first Led Zeppelin cover, What Is and What Should Never Be went off without a hitch (..for the most part) and we will probably be peppering that one in from time to time at future shows.
Next, we roll into Northside Tavern with The Almighty Getdown (featuring members of Daughters & Sons). This night promises to be an all out free-for-all, ass-shakin, throwdown, dance party deluxe! So bring your dancin’ shoes…seriously!
See you then!

Well, January was a wild ride… The CEA nomination for Best New Artist was an enormous honor, and we are grateful to the good people at CityBeat for the nod. Everything that came along with the nomination was quite the whirlwind, too… photo shoot with the amazingly talented Jesse Fox; interview with the always insightful Brian Baker; the New Band Showcase at Bogart’s… all culminating in the epic soiree that was the CEA Awards Show. Add to the mix a wildly successful night at Southgate House Revival opening for The Clifftones and you’ve got one exciting and productive month for your Heavy Hinges.
Next, we set our sites on Mainstay Rock Bar. On Friday February 15, we are going to shake that joint to the foundation with our good friends Fists Of Love. Also, the unbelievably gifted D.J. Optik will be digging through his crates and spinning the funkiest, most obscure old school funk and soul you are likely to hear in your entire life. Rocking out with Optik isn’t just a party… it’s a damn education. DO NOT MISS!!!
